Groups

Creating a Group

1.
Click on the "Groups" button on the upper left-hand corner of the desktop.

A Groups window will pop up with three tabs. Click on the "Groups Owned" tab.

On the Groups Owned tab, click on the button that says "New Group".

Enter in the Group Name, Group Nickname/Shortname, and the Group Description in the appropriate fields. Once you are done, click "Save".

Your group will now be listed in your "Groups Owned" tab. Click on "X" to close the window.

Joining a Group

Click on the Groups button in the upper left-hand corner of the desktop.

The Groups Window will pop up. Make sure you are on the main window and select the "All Groups" tab.

Scroll through the list of groups until you find one you wish to join. Then click on the icon w/ the gear and the arrow. A drop down menu should appear. Click "Join". A red confirmation message should appear in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. When you are done joining groups click on "X" to return to the main dashboard.

Adding a Group Stream

Click on the red "Add Streams" button on the upper left hand corner of the desktop.

A menu of streams will pop up. Locate the "Group" icon and click on the "Add" button below it.

A drop down menu will appear. Select the Group Stream you wish to add and click "Load".

The Stream will appear in the first free column in the active tab on your desktop.

How to Post to One or More Groups AND the All Stream

If not already open, select the red "Tweet Entry Box" button in the upper left hand corner of the desktop.

Type in your message in the box. Then, select the "Post to:" drop down menu and check off which groups you wish to post to. Finally, if you wish to "cc to Twitter", make sure that box is checked as well. Once ready, click "Post".

How to Post to ONLY One Group (and NO Other Streams)

In order to post to only one group, first you need to know the group nickname/shortname. To locate the shortname click on the Groups button in the upper left-hand corner of the desktop.

Click on the "All Groups" tab.

Locate the group you wish to post to and under the gear drop down menu, click on "View".

The group nickname is located between the Group Name and the Group Description. Close the Groups Window.

Open up the Tweet Box by clicking on the red "Tweet Box Entry" button in the upper left-hand corner of the desktop.

Begin your message with "g" + "shortname", entering in the shortname of the group. Then enter message and click post. See example below.
